Assignment Process

Room assignments for returning students (those who lived on campus during the previous semester) are performed in April for the following academic year. New residents who have submitted the required housing application and deposit are assigned a room beginning June 1. If your enrollment at Indiana Tech begins in the spring semester, your room assignment will be made immediately following fall exams and will be based on availability.

Building assignments are made based on seniority of our returning students followed by the housing application and deposit completion date for our new residents.

If a specific roommate is requested on the housing application, we will do our best to honor such requests but these are only guaranteed if both roommates request each other and complete the process either by the guarantee date of May 1 or if they both complete around the same time after the deadline.

Applicants who do not specify a specific roommate will be paired based on specific criteria listed on the housing application.

Finally, we utilize the personality questions to pair students with someone who has similar characteristics or interests. If our process is not successful, we will work with you to find a suitable new assignment.

Once your room assignment is entered into our database, you will be sent an email containing your room information, roommate name and contact information, and mailing address. If changes are made to pairings or your assignment, a new email will be sent with the updated information.

Assignment process for athletes

If a coach submits pairings to us, we try to honor those requests first. We also will pair athletes with teammates when specified. The next focus is typically given to academic majors.
