Frank & Anne Oropeza Hall

Frank & Anne Oropeza Hall houses athletes on a specific housing scholarship chosen by the Indiana Tech coaching staff on the top two floors and a newly forming community called “Well @ Tech” on the lower two floors. Coaches from each sport may designate one or two student-athletes to receive the scholarship depending on availability at the time. If the athletic department does not allocate all of the rooms, available rooms may be used to accommodate non-scholarship students by request or if need requires. Well @ Tech is for students who are health-conscious with interests towards personal fitness, healthy living habits/choices, daily organization and time management, and general wellness in all aspects of their lives. The community will support and develop an environment for wellness by inviting faculty, staff, and even local “gurus” to share their expertise, and actively engage in working together to be healthy students. Sound like you? If so, just indicate your interest on your housing application. Assignments to Oropeza Hall are double occupancy rooms and require a full meal plan for first-year students.

Frank & Anne Oropeza Hall features apartment-style accommodations for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The facility accommodates 62 students in 16 apartments (four students per apartment) and is staffed by two resident assistants.

Room Amenities

Amenities in each apartment include:

  • Two bedrooms (two students per bedroom).
  • Within each bedroom, each student has his or her own bed with twin long (80-inch) mattress, desk with bookcase, chair, and dresser with bookcase.
  • Full walk-in closets in each bedroom.
  • Bathroom with vanity and sink for each student.
  • Kitchenette with sink, counters, cabinets, and full-size refrigerator.

Building Amenities

In addition to the student apartments, Frank & Anne Oropeza Hall has two community rooms located on the first and second floors. The large community room on the first floor contains lounge furniture, a gas fireplace, pool table, large LCD television, tables and chairs, and a full kitchen available for use upon request. The second floor community area is a loft overlooking the first floor and contains lounge furniture, large LCD television, and a gaming/card table.

The facility is monitored by closed circuit video surveillance both internally and externally. The main entrance to the building is controlled by card access with two restricted points of entry. The apartments are also equipped with video airphones which allow visitors to buzz their host’s room and also to be seen before students grant access to the visiting person.

Laundry facilities are located on each floor and contain one washer and two dryers that are free to use.

Meal Plans

Returning students living in Evans-Kimmell Hall are required to purchase a meal plan while Freshmen students must purchase the full meal plan.
